On Sunday, 22nd February 2020 the Oaks Driving Club put on a "Have-A-Go Driving" day. Numbers were capped at 24 with many more people wanting to join in so the club is hoping to hold similar, in the near future.

Andrea Scott brought Pip Holgate's lovely skewbald pony, Texas, with Joanne McNichol taking the reins. Moira Evans brought her Dales pony Roandale Rebel. Texas was driven to a 4-wheel competition vehicle and Rebel to a 2-wheel Bellcrown to show the different turnouts.

The day was divided into two sessions with 12 beginners having a drive from 12 noon and another 12 from 2pm. Andrea kept everyone informed as the driving was taking place and answered questions throughout the day.

Whilst Texas and Rebel had a break, Gina and Kevin Jeffrey's Friesian horse, Beau, was used to demonstrate harnessing up and putting to.

There was a split of approximately 60/40 in favour of adults to children. All were very enthusiastic and thoroughly enjoyed the driving experience.

It has to be said that Texas, Rebel and Beau were all beautifully behaved all day, they were much admired. There has been a lot of positive feedback and hopefully more people will join the driving fraternity.
