A perfect first step. ​Watching Boyd Exell and Great Britain’s Daniel Naprous fly their teams around the Indoor World Cup courses this winter always sets the hearts racing. For the typical driver, this level of extreme driving may be a bridge too far.

However, as James Broome explains - like all dreams, taking one step at a time is the way to achieve them.

British Carriagedriving have made the first step of this journey far easier with the introduction of their series of Evolution classes. The series is aimed at those drivers that have, perhaps, never competed in a Driving Trial competition before. The competition is based on the established format, but the challenges are aimed at the grassroots competitor. It has now become popular with drivers that have only ever driven in indoor competitions as well as those with slightly older horses.

There are classes right across the Country in 2020 that all qualify for the National Evolution Championships, held at the prestigious Osberton Event in September. It’s great to think that the next National Champion for this class may be reading this article wondering how to get involved in the sport.
