Blue Cross supporters foster horses to help charity during lockdown
30 April 2020National Pet Charity Blue Cross has been overwhelmed by the equestrian sector’s support to help provide temporary homes for as many horses in need as possible during lockdown. With the charity’s two horse rehoming centres closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and staffing numbers greatly reduced, several of the charity’s regular support yards have stepped in to help out, taking horses temporarily into their own care.

30 April 2020Staff and grooms at World Horse Welfare’s Hall Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre were delighted to be met, on the morning of Tuesday 21st April, by a new addition to the team! Mare Winona had given birth overnight to a gorgeous colt foal who was bright and healthy and immediately captured the hearts of everyone at Hall Farm. A social media competition to name the foal was won today by the name ‘Captain Tom’ after Captain Tom Moore, a 100-year old World War 2 veteran who recently raised a staggering £28million for the NHS after walking 100 laps of his garden, aided by his walking frame.
Virtual Royal Windsor 2020 receives thousands of entries from around the world
30 April 2020Following the cancellation of Royal Windsor Horse Show due to COVID-19, the Organisers of the Show have put an innovative solution in place; Virtual Windsor 2020, an online platform that merges virtual competition with ecommerce and social media. Virtual Windsor has already generated an astounding number of entries to its online Showing classes, which are taking place at the same time as the usual competitions at the Show.

Synthetic harness, however, has become a very strong competitor to leather for many reasons. Leather looks good and smells nice, but producing and maintaining it is time consuming and expensive. Leather can also be heavy. Synthetic materials on the other hand eliminate these disadvantages.
