What a difference two months can make. After an exceptionally busy sale at Reading on the 4th March, and the successful introduction of online bidding in most sections, the world has changed completely. What a difference 2 months can make. After an exceptionally busy sale at Reading on the 4th March, and the successful introduction of online bidding in most sections, the world has changed completely. For the foreseeable future it will not be possible to hold “live” auction sales due to the Covid-19 restrictions, so all our auctions will be now ONLINE ONLY.

Our next sale here in Reading was due to be on the 8th July, to be followed by the North of England sale on the 26th August. Under the circumstances we have decided to move the Summer Reading Carriage sale to August.

Sadly, we have concluded that we will not be able to hold the North of England sale online only, so this has been cancelled.

We intend to still accept the usual entries: Carriages; Harness; Sundries; Vehicle Parts; Pictures, Models & Books; and Tack & Saddlery. Depending upon the number of entries of Carriages that we receive, the likelihood is that they will remain “in situ” and we will make arrangements to visit to take photographs and descriptions, so they will not need to be delivered here, and there will be no viewing.

The sale will be what is known as “timed online”, which means that it will open for bidding at a given time and date, and end from a given time a couple of weeks later. The dates and times for the Reading Summer Carriage sale are:

  • Entries, with photographs, to be received by 30th June
  • Lots to be delivered to Reading Auction Centre no later than Friday 17th July
  • Sale starts Monday 27th July
  • Sale finishes Wednesday 12th August
